Remove stock fan

I'm quite surprised it's causing this much difficulty. I've always used a big wrench (24"+ handle) and hammer to get fans off. And yes, it will still turn so you have to re-adjust 4 or 5 times, but it's the impact that's slowly breaking the nut loose. I've never had to hit it more than 10 times, and that was working with a buddy on a junk yard motor. What are you getting nicks and dings on?

Just to clarify... your turning the wrench to the passenger side correct? When I did mine, I put the wrench on the nut, and gave it end of the wrench a swift tap with a dead-blow hammer. The guy that mentioned using bolts in the holes of the pulley is not a bad idea, but doing it that way should only take a little force. Just don't damage your water pump. After reading 4 pages of this thread, something seems wrong. I've never heard of the nut being that tight. The other thing you could try is using a strap wrench to hold the pulley while someone taps the wrench. This is a mod. that is well worth your time and money! Good luck!

I am going to just cut off the stock clutch fan after the bolt....the bolt will still be there if it ever feels like coming out but I just want to put this e fan in already. And yes it is a regular thread so I was hitting the wrench to the passenger side or left. Now wheres that sawzall...

which way you hittin it..I just took mine off a few minutes ago and it wasn't that hard or stuck on...I do have a home made spanner wrench that fit into the holes of the water pump pulley...lookin at it from front of motor, i'm turning it counter clockwise, like a normal nut/bolt comin off..
