Instrument Cluster
So my wife calls me while I am at Busch Gardens. She says the truck will not shut off. I tell her to take the key out, nope the key is out. I now head to her work to see this. Sure enough the truck is running without the key.
I initially thought the remote start so I pushed the break, nada. I hop in and put the key to the run then the start position. Ilose all internal electrical power, the radio, power outlets, windows, etc. I call the dealership and start doing some troubleshooting. They have me open the fuse box and I start listing fuses. Pull this one, nope not that one. Finally I find the correct fuse and the truck shuts off.
I put the fuse back in and hop into the cab. I put the key in and turn it to the first position, the truck starts and does not shut off. I pull the fuse again. The dealer says that I need to take the truck into the shop. That's $100 out of pocket for the tow truck.
Now it's at the dealership, after hours. I leave the keys in the night drop off and go home. The next day they call me saying it's going to be $135 for them to look at the truck however if they fix the truck the troubleshooting fee is waved. I give them the go ahead.
That afternoon they say it's going to need a new instrument cluster, installed $713. Great, this is the way I like these stories to turn out but they said this is probably the only problem but they can't do any additional troubleshooting until this is replaced.
I give the go ahead and order/replace the instrument cluster.
They call me the following day and say the truck is ready that the instrument cluster resolved the issue.
As I found out the instrument cluster is the center of the internal electrical system. If this does not work, nothing works.
How was everyone elses days?

Ha not laughing at your post but I had tach issues for some time posted on here got some decent ideas of what it might be an the other half were just smartass's about it had the "dodge dealer experts" (jerk offs) tell me it was my throttle body then wanted to do a $200 injector cleaning lol is to laugh well i said to them as I am very strong in mechanical exp. and inclianation its not that at all the tach drops off to 100-200 rpms but the engine idle dosnt change nor bobble stays at it's 550-600 mark all our Hemis do when operating correctly.
So i got it to a different dealer replaced the insturment cluster ahhh prob solved was covered under warr. np 100 dollar deduct. ohwell but it has since done a couple things I love with elec issues, locking and unlocking doors after I started driving and the horn would beep when it did. Then sitting in driveway and did the same after it was off an sitting but only a couple times all same day which was like two or three after the replacement ohh that same day as other off handed behavior was hitting unlock on key flop an it just kept locking doors lol wtf!! all subsided in a week but my lights never flash when I lock it anymore just the quick horn chirp that its suppossed to. I hope yours stays "normal" I have had several elec issues with it crise wheel speed sensor , bright dimmer switch would flip (seemed to be cured with instrmnt. cluster replaced. I called about wierd stuff previously spoken of but they went throught my truck like bulls in a china shop scratchs pry marks and such broke my e-brake release handle. They did the seat belt recall at time an on other didnt put plastics back so if i can help I dont take it to dealers at all.

I might have fallen out of the potato truck, but I didn't land on my head.
My truck would not shift out of park. The instrument cluster if tied into every electrical system in the truck, so the dealership told me. This includes the ignition and the electronic lock for the shifter.
It's an 07 with 60,000 miles on it which is why the warranty was not applicable.

Actually, if you reach under the dash, you can unplug the harness that locks your shifter. I had to do that untill I found a blown fuse in my truck.

Personally I love the trucks but this has been my biggest p.o.s. brand new purchase ever to many probs in to many areas. Will I be return buyer no way love the look of the new ones but dodge dosent test these trucks as throughly as they need to be imp. Pertty much has sowered me on mopar I have purchased three of there products over a decade from cars to trucks and all have been very problamatic an as time gose on an the continual keep occuring (I.E. brakes an elec systems) just move me further away from there product. Not tryin to be offesive to anyone here all good guys that love there trucks just am not having great luck with mine
