Default Guys with Programmers step inside

So I have DSP, not that is should make any difference. But i thought i would share that with you.
Now, I raised my 1-2 & 2-3 shift points to 6k from 5600. The truck whine's right out to 6k and then there's a brief moment of pause. By brief, I mean milliseconds, but there is a delay from shifting.
Now, during the delay i have watched the tach drop from 6k-5800 before it shifts. Now when it shifts, it's pretty firm. Almost as if I was driving a manual and goosed the gas as I shifted into 2nd. i did that all the time in my Mustang. Made your head hit the headrest so hard.....lol Of course, the shift isn't quite as hard. But compared to stock, it feels like I installed a shift kit.

The question I have for all of you guys is...... Does your truck do the same? Is this how guys are trashing their tranny's because it is very firm when it hits 2nd. i like it because it gives the false pretense of added power, but if it comes at the price of a burned up tranny, then I'll go back to stock shifts.
Thanks all.

When I had my superchips, I had the 1-2 set to 6100 and the 2-3 set to 6050 and ran it for 4 years like that with no ill effects.

With my DSP my WOT 1-2 is at 5830 and my temps are fine the engine/trans temps are right where they should be.

A firmer shift means less slippage of clutch packs which means less wear and tear, BUT the more its abused the more stress its gonna see, so if you like chirping into 2nd as i like it try not to do it all the time.

Alright then. I just don't want to be stressing out the tranny. The stock shifts are soft and mushy because of torque management so it makes the tranny last longer.
If everyone else has the same settings and nothing has happened then that is what I wanted to hear. I'll leave as-is and enjoy the firm shifts.

BTW jdfisher, there is a point where to hard of shifts is worse than slippage. Slippage allows metals to ease together with no instant torque. Instant torque can have a damaging effect.

Mine shifts hard when going WOT from 1st to 2nd with programming installed. Much different than stock when the shifts are as soft as a marshmallow. I have never had any problems as a result of the hard shifts, and I have done a good number of WOT runs with the programming installed.

Then its about time you take it out and see what it can do. I jumped straight into it when I got it and have played with it a hell of a lot to get it to where everything feels right and where my 0-60's are at their peak.
