Shopping List... I have a few Questions
Alright guys I am making my shopping list for next week, Im getting a very hefty bonus from my stocks in the company and am looking at a few things. I will have a little over a grand to put to parts. Now I CANNOT get the cam this time around, I have to wait til the end of next month to pick it up so....
This is what I have been thinking this time around:
Pacesetter LT's (JET hot Coated inside/Out) - Will be Purchased
* Stage 8 Bolts or 6.1 header bolts
Mopar Gaskets - Will be Purchased
** 3" ORY
*** Hellwig Rear Anti-Sway Bar or Caltracs
* Are the Stage 8 Locking header bolts really necessary? They are $50 shipped. There is also a set of 6.1 header bolts for $22 that moes says will fit the 5.7 as well and should be stronger, any thoughts?
** This one is tricky. I need to retain my stock cats so, do I order the pacesetter ORY and cut it to the length I need or should I just buy a magnaflow 3" Y and have some new piping fabbed up?
*** I can only get one, either the Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar or a set of Caltracs and a flip kit for the springs, which one should I get? Its a toss up right now between the two. I want them both.
Also with the flip kit for the rear end, how or what does that do as far as ride quality to have the springs under the rear axle instead of above? Obviously its going to lower the rear a little but by how much?
Any help guys would be great, Thanks

No thats alright Dodge_cowboy2004, Im good and Im not doing interior mods til after the Exterior mods are done and those wont be done until the performance mods are done... Priorities man priorities....
You dont need the fancy bolts, the ones in the kit do just fine. Just install them, get it hot a couple of times and re torque. mine have never losened after the initial re torque. As far as the stregnth goes, the Aluminum head will turn lose way before a grade 5 steel bolt will, so stregnth is not an issue.
LOL, I am the other side of the coin, if it dont make it go faster, i dont need it!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the red truck clubs have been around since march, so you're not the founder.
That's how i am. Although i tried to finish the looks off first, i still added performance mods. Now that the outside is 99% done, all mods are going to performance and interior.

Dodge_Cowboy2004. i believe that is considered trolling? You need mod permission to post anything like that in separate posts just so you know if you decided to sell the headliners "commercially" like that. Just don't want u to get in trouble for some nice work. Those are freakin sweet.
Truckin, from experience with my Mustang and Stage 8 locking header bolts....I will never use them ever again. They are such a PIA to keep the locking ring so you can fit the snap ring over it. This is extremely difficult in hard to fit areas. It took me about 6 hours to bolt my LT headers up on a 32v DOHC cobra motor. Now they were extraodinarily tight, but I had to leave a few out and the rest had to be done with one hand and all by feel with bolt locking ring and retainer in between 2 diff. fingers. Trust me. Very tough.
Now, since i have installed headers on my truck, thre were a few that were tough to get to. i used standard bolts and if you re-tighten them up after your first hot/cold cylce, you should be fine. Which is also what i did.
I would go with the sway bar over the caltracs. You'll use the handling aspects of the truck much more than the bite and wheel spinning take-offs. At least that's what i would imagine.
Pretty sure the flip kit won't change ride quality unless the springs are changed. I would think the drop would be minimum of 4" because the axle tubing is like 3.5"
