Default Stuck Exhaust

Well I got the muffler delete from Geno's Garage and I'm attempting to put it on but first I have to get the old muffler off.

I ended up breaking all the U-Clamp bolts off but the clamps won't come off. I spent an hour yesterday hitting them with a hammer and spraying them down with freeze off.

Has anyone had this same problem? Anyone have any tips? Where should I go to get replacement clamps? Also the Genos kit comes with a hanger/clamp where does that go exactly?

Thanks

If they are the "U" type clapms then you can get them at auto parts stores. But sometimes you can find replacement pipe there also and so you could put a piece of pipe off of your truck and slip this other pipe on and clamp it to replace the muffler. I hope that is what you ware looking for.

The u-clamp type clamps usually crimp the pipes and make them almost impossible to separate. You may just have to cut the pipe at the muffler.

If it is aht e factory muffler, you sure the clamp isn't welded to the pipe? Never looked at an older CTD truck before.

Well I already have the delete pipe from Geno's. The muffler is stock its not welded. I got a mini hack saw and cut through the U-Clamps. Its still on there good looked like it was tighten enough to deform the pipe.

The rear is able to wiggle a bit I blasted it some more with liquid wrench and will try it agian otherwise might just take it to the muffler shop.

I really don't want to cut the pipe just in case I want to go back to stock or sell it or something.

I also ordered the CAT delete but thats on back order so I might have the same issues at the front end.

And here I thought newer vehicle this should be easy verus my cars in the past.

I thought the clamp might have been welded to the pipe.
You might have to cut the muffler where it goes over the pipe horizontally to split it and widen it to get it off of the pipe.
I'm glad my 08 has the more modern band type clamps that do not dent the pipes.

Well the rear has some wiggle room might go at it some more today before I make any cuts. I think when it goes back together I will be using the band type clamps for sure.

Success!!! Well everyone here know what they are talking about for sure. Borrowed a little dremmel tool and an hour later done and put back on.

I knew it would be easy once I got it off. It sounds good not annoying just a good deep tone. Waiting for the CAT deleted now.

Oh and i couldn't find the band type clamps and not too sure if it would work too well due to the location of some of hangers.

I got the U-Clamp ones and put a good dose of anti seize and the new pipe is already cut with slots like I did to the old to get off so shouldn't be a problem plus I didn't tighten them like Arnold Schwarzenegger too. All is tight and non leaks good to go.

Thanks Everyone.
