Ok I see, I looked up the specs on it here http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/31147-99936.pdf, so as long as your ignition wire is hot when the truck is on it should run. I'm not really sure of the current draw of the fan on low speed, but I've read it is about 16 amps after startup on a corvette forum. The rush during startup may or may not be enough to surpass the 20 amp rating which could damage the controller, so if you want to wire it w/o the extra relay that's up to you.

I think I am going to wire it without the relay. Just a 30 amp circuit breaker between the power source and controller.

I guess the only thing I am still confused about is about the ignition controlled or constant power source. Do I run a wire from the 12v battery and the pink/yellow wire then splice them together to run them to the controller?

According to flex-a-lite's diagram you just need to wire it to one or the other, like an ignition controlled source OR the battery, it's in the pdf I posted a link to.

will that tiny little wire power that fan?

I would use at least 10 gauge wire for the power and ground, since you're not using the other relay just follow the wiring from the flexalite pdf and replace the fuse w/ the breaker. Also w/ wiring it w/o the bigger relay you will probably just want to wire the controller power straight to the battery as I don't know about drawing power from a little ignition line that's like 18 gauge. Do you have any pepboys locally b.c I think you may be better off returning the flexalite controller and using a hayden/imperial controller like the one I got that has a 30 amp relay built in.

I have the pink/yellow wire spliced to a 10 gauge wire. The pink/yellow wire is so thin that I don't think it could supply enough power safly for the fan.

I have it spliced using the red thing. It has a place for a wire to run all the way through(pink/yellow) and another place for a wire to go in. I guess I am going to try it out with a circuit breaker(30 amp).

Yea I am iffy about that as well. Like I said it might just be better to return the controller and get the hayden one that has a 30 amp relay built in or wire the controller directly to the battery. If the controller is wired straight to the battery the fan will stay on after shutdown for a little while until the temp goes down.

I might do that. But then again I still don't know a lot of things. I think the wire I spliced into is not hot. My original schematic should work if the controller has power. First I am getting a multi tester. Then I am getting a circuit breaker. Going to find a wire that is ignition controlled and try the original way first then go from there. If it doesn't work I am going to ditch the relay and return the controller for another one.

You mean the one using the 30 amp relay? There are 2 of those pink and yellow wires and one isn't hot w/ the ignition. If you have it all wired up according to the original drawing just try tapping into the other pink and yellow wire.
