Default ignition controlled power supply

I have been trying to hook up my electric fan for a few days now. And only seem to find problems as I go along. This is the first time I have done anything under the hood.

What wire can I use? I tried a pink yellow wire that is supposed to be the cigar lighter. Right now it is hooked up to the waser fluid senor but I still can't get any electricity to my switch.

Both wires I have tried are a really small gauge wire and I am using something like a 14-16 gauge on them. Could this be a problem.

Everything is firing but this is the only thing I have had trouble with unless my relay is bad but it is brand new.

I am about to just put my clutch fan back on and trash everything I have been working on.

The net comes up with nothing. I asked a guy at best buy but he told me a wire that is under the dash. The blue ignition wire. I am going to break down and quit trying to learn how to work on my own vehicles.

A fan controller will answer all your needs. You need it to switch the fan on as needed anyway.

dood, I have everything I need and then some.

It's almost like it is forbidden to tell any one how to find and use a ignition 12v power source on the internet.

Except a fan controller and some instructions, apparently. Under the steering wheel and behind the knee bolster should be a four-wire harness. One of those wires is a lime green/black wire. It is a switched hot.
