Everyone says that the stock 20" HP's are crap in the rain, But I drive 75mph daily and even @ 20K miles, they have never givien a hint of problem, dry or wet. Even did pretty good in the winter storm last year. Now I would never buy them again, but they just don't seem to be as bad as everyone makes them out to be. At least, mine aren't.
At 20K miles, they still have over 1/2 tread too.
But back on topic, what type of tire are you buying? Drag radials can go 20K if not raced daily. Somethings not right with your truck or something.

I have the stock Goodyears 265/70/17 and have 26K. So far, so good.....
I take it easy around the corners and don't spin the tires often. Keep in mind these trucks are heavy. If you regularly haul a$$ around corners, then the treadlife is greatly reduced.

Will switch to a 285/70 when these wear out.....probably a BFG or something with at least a 50K warranty.

Us mustang guys are very familiar with Sumitomos. We call them sumicrappo's. They have a treadwear life of like 20kmi. I believe most of their tires are stamped with 260 treadwear rating. Their highest is like 320. That's terrible.
They are terrible in the rain, they barely get dry pavement traction and mmost of all, they wear out super fast. Not to mention they are soley a street/highway tire.

Hey, atleast you got new tires out of them!

You should just get a tire with a warranty so if they wear out you can have em' replaced.

I run Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors and I have the 275/60/20s (which are much more aggressive in person)
and they have a 50k warranty. Their tread seems to be holding up fine after 2-3k.

I love my Cooper LTZ's, the hardest thing to get used to is actually have grip and traction in the rain now lol Nah but seriously they haven't disappointed. I really look forward to snow this year, get to really test 'em out.

you will be dissapointed. they lack in snow traction, not much better than stockers

I'll disagree with that statement. i went out driving in every single snow storm last year. While they are not the best snow tires, they are way better than stockers and many other tires. Here's how I would rate the Cooper Zeon LTZ's with 1 being lowest and 10 being best.

Road noise..............9/10
comfort(stiffness)....7/10
Cornering................9/10
looks.....................10/10
Wet traction...........10/10
Light snow traction...9/10
Heavy snow traction..7/10
Ice traction..............5/10
loose gravel.............7/10
dirt.........................9/10
light Mud.................8/10
thick mud................6/10

The tires aren't made for ice just as many others aren't. They do very good in the snow, but there are other tires that will do better in the snow that I have had(like the overpriced BFG A/T's & TerraTracs I've had) since both start out with more tread depth is prob the reason. The compound on the LTZ's is great. Driving in wet weather it feels like there's no rain on the road.

As I said before, I would get some Long trails or something with smaller tread blocks if you want better mileage out of them and better highway road manners.

Feej, if you are experiencing front end plowing with the Zeon's as I did last season, it's not the tires. it has to do with the LSD in the rear along with no sway bar. Adding a sway bar in the back will help with corner plowing tremendously. Also, removing a rear LSD or locker would help as well. other than that, the tires did justice although I felt like I could have got another tire to do better, but i would have sacrificed in other areas. I think the LTZ is the best overall tire for the money. BUT, it's not what this guy is looking for I think.
