Default Am i taking to much power from the alt?

Well....my lights dim pretty bad sometimes heres what i got
1.) 4 - 100watt lights behind the grill
2.)2 - 10 inch woofers only powered by a 800watt amp
When the bass hits holy hell do all my lights go dim...am i drawing to much from the alt?? could this problem be fixed by adding a second battery??? im wanting to add more lights to the truck thats why im asking.

I would invest in a good capacitor from a reputable stereo shop.

That is 85 amps, not allowing for wasted heat from the amp, which likely isn't 800 watts, BTW. Quite a chunk for a 136ah alternator. The capacitor seems a good idea.

like someone else sound get a good 2 farad capicitor, it will help with the lights dimming when your amp is driving at low frequency.

Yeah, go for a cap! lol, I put a 2 farad cap on mine and my battery doesn't crap out anymore, and my lights do not dim.

Caps are band aids, not fixes. I would at least do a Big 3 upgrade on your power and ground wires. Then look at maybe a newer and/or bigger battery or alt.

Get a AMG battery like these. They are around 1/2 the size and put out twice the power and are 100x better than any other battery such as a optima or whatever. I have been wanting one for awhile but are expensive.

This is why you only see them in truck in mags with guys who either are rich or sponsored.....LOL

Honestly though, not many people can or will buy A battery like that. Again, I had no issues in my truck with my one battery and OEM wiring. I was running Everything I have now minus my winch and I only added my second battery for that but even the winch never gets used.....yet.

Make sure your Amp isn't hooked up at 0 ohm. I screwed up my math and had it at a 0 load and it would dim the lights etc when it was hitting. I eventually killed the amp, and once I took everything apart realized it was that. I got a new amp and hooked the subs up properly at 2ohm...now no more dimming.
