just wondering, been thinkijg this up for a while with my dad. been wanting to buy a hemi out of a 04 truck, like a totaled one off ebay, put it on a stand in the garage and every so often throw a few hundred into it.....crank, headers, pistons, high rise cam, conn rods, ported tb, then in a few years when my engine gets old and not so fun, i haver a drop in fire breathin monster.... maybe an idea, maybe a tire shreading choppy idling beast, who knows, just wanted to ask will a 6.1l bolt to my tranny, what about newer 5.7l,,, current truck is a 2004 hemi 5.7 qcsb pickup....70,000m

I think you are making more of a comment and plan more than a question. But if you have the time and funds and can do the work yourself then sure. I would do that.

I would start with a 6.1L and build it. No substitute for cubic inches.

I'm pretty sure that the belhousing patterns are the same. My only concern is if the deck heights are the same so you could use the Ram 5.7L intake on the 6.1L.
