Question Differential Gasket Where Art Thou?

Doing a differential fluid change this weekend and my handy Haynes said I need a gasket and RTV sealant. In past posts members told me I needed the RTV but never mentioned a gasket. Anyone know where to find the gasket? or if I need it?

Thou art differential gasket tis not needed. In modern days we use only RTV so youre good with that you have.

Yeah +1 On what WEED said. You would be surprised where these trucks don't use gaskets. RTV is all you need.

Just for the record, no gasket on the trans pan either.

Points up the value of Haynes' Manuals. Mostly useful if you have a bird.

Personally, I opt for thy "form a gasket" in a tube from Permatex. I hate RTV. But tis only my opinion.

When I dropped my trans pan there was a gasket in there. Not sure if it came from the factory like that but since I got the truck with low miles I am guessing it did?
