Okay, so after today this is where I am at.

They have upped their trade and have offered me $16,000 for my truck. Currently, I owe $13,000 on my 2005, so this would give me $3,000 in my pocket towards the 2009. Then, once I return my extended warranty and get my refund, I will get about $1800 back in my pocket; totalling $4,800 towards the new truck. With this said, I told them I could put down $2,000 towards the new truck and would want to keep the other $2,800 as a buffer zone to use for my new bigger payments on the 2009.

So, if I put $2,000 down, the truck out the door WITH the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty is $29,700. This would put me at $528 a month for 72 months. Although this is an extremely high payment, it seems like the lifetime warranty more than pays that off. I would be able to keep this truck as long as I want and practically everything would be completely covered. I wouldn't have any pressure to have to get rid of it before my warranty expired because it'd be lifetime. I also will have roughly $3,000 in the bank to have towards payments if I traded it in. What do you guys think? Trade it in and do the deal Monday, or wait a week and see if anybody will bite on my truck privately for around $18,000?

personally id wait a cpl weeks and see if someone bites if not and you really want the 09 go for it.....i hate to see you give up that truck its a sweet one and you only owe 13k on it then it would paid off you gotta think you got 60k before your warranty is up thats a while then they will have a newer truck out and some bugs worked out of that 09....your very impulsive joe and do things quickly but its up to you your the one whos fittin the bill........

You do make some good points, and you are right, I am quite impulsive...

I mean, if I decide to keep my truck for ahwile longer, when do you think would be a good time to look at selling it. At the moment, the truck retains a lot of value, but two or three years from now when it begins nearing 100,000 miles I know I will want to get a new truck before the warranty expires. The big reason I'm pushing for the '09 is because they offer the lifetime, they will not be offering that on the 2010s. If not for the lifetime warranty, I wouldn't be pushing this as much. I just don't want to miss out on getting a lot for my truck while it's still very low in miles ya know? I will admit the $349 I pay a month right now works out pretty well with me, I just don't know when a good mileage marker would be to consider selling it then?

Personally, I say you should keep it. You have a good truck with low miles as is and will prolly last you quite a while longer. Yes, the 09's are nice and the warranty is tempting but do you really wanna be stuck owing twice what you do now on a new one at payments that are almost double? Thats just my 2 cents.

you have to wonder how long the warranty will be worth anything with chrysler/dodge struggling? it is easy to offer a lifetime warranty right now not knowing if they will be here this time next year!

I wouldnt do it but thats just me.

Are they even allowed to legally do that? Theoretically if they did go bankrupt and disappeared, wouldn't there be some legal obligations to acknowledge any current warranties of ram owners? They must realize that most of the people buying their trucks are mostly because of the lifetime warranty they are offering. I can say right now that if dodge didn't offer a lifetime, I would be going hard after a Toyota Tundra.

If you can get $16000 in trade in from the dealer I would say do it. You are never going to get that kind of money again if you wait. That actually seems like a really good trade in number for a 4 year old truck that you only paid $4000 more when you bought it at retail. Plus, you will get a lifetime warranty which I think would be a good thing bc from all your past posts I know you have had a hard time with different problems on your 2nd gen and now this truck.
