Guys who have taken apart their headlights.
I am in the process of taking apart or rather trying to take apart my headlight housings. The problem I am facing is that the "glue" that holds them together isn't pliable at all. If I heat up the housing very slowly, the housing gets pliable and begins to melt before the "glue" does anything. it appears to be an RTV sealant rather than a butyl substance. WTF did you guys do to remove them? What a PIA.
I haven't stuck them in the oven yet because I'm afraid of the housing melting on me before the "glue". hmm... i know they are very big to be chasing around the edges with a heat gun, so an oven is inevitable with housings this size, but I don't think the "glue" will ever be pliable no matter how much heat I give it. What to do?
