Default SRT Hood

called my local dealership today to find out the deal with getting an SRT-10 hood on my ram. they quoted me $740 unpainted and then they put me through to the body shop to talk about painting. Thats when it got a little hazy. The guy said that with my color truck (Grey) they would have to paint the fenders to blend in the paint color. Basically what he was getting at was that it was going to be much more than i was looking to pay. He was hinting at me just getting a cheaper on off line. But im really pretty set on just getting an SRT hood. Can anyone that has done this tell me what the deal is. Why is this going to be so expensive?

thanks

find a hood online somewhere and have a local shop paint it. it will be cheaper probably. they wanted to spray the fenders so you couldn't tell it was not the original hood. i just had my hood painted and you can definitely tell a difference between hood/fenders. and it was painted with the same paint code paint.

they want to color fade the hood to the rest of the truck. when its done properly you will swear it came on the truck.

the hoods are around 750 so that price is normal. and a good paint shouldn't be all that bad. try getting quotes from other shops maybe

Hey, The price they gave you is pretty good for an SRT-10 hood. I have checked ebay as I want to maybe do it in the future and ebay is like over 1,000 for an hood. Crazy. I would just buy one at the dealership and then have it painted to match your truck at like a painting auto place. You'll pay more to paint it at the dealer i would think.

Silver is the hardest color to duplicate as well. By doing the fenders, it helps to blend the paint from the hood with the rest of the truck, even though it will be a hair off.

You can get one of these hoods, painted, for under $500. Just be patient.

I think i could hopefully get a more straight answer if im in there in person. Im really not looking to spend more than $1000 on the whole project. Im going in for my 15k service in a few months so i think ill try to get it sorted out then. Anyone know any good websites to buy other hoods? maybe get a different look than the srt, even though i really dont think it can be beat. What kind of hood do you have Nim?
