do a diy intake get a free flow muffler and y-pipe, reset you pcm and enjoy. and get a tuner with the money you save doing it yourself.

I bought one of those cheap ones on ebay several years back and have been more than happy with it.

 

To me a CAI is neither a performance mod or a MPG mod, it is a helper mod or supporting mod. By its self you wont notice much more than the change in sound in the engine, the exhaust may get a little more of a rumble to it or slightly deeper tone, and the throttle responce may go up a little bit and thats it. The power gain on its own is only a slight increase, something that you will probably notice as a bit more pep from the throttle than anything. Mpg will go up with just the CAI, maybe 0.5mpg (+/-) though and thats pushing it.

With that being said though, in combination with other mods they can and will make a difference.

Do what the others have said and build your own, my only suggestion is that you invest in a GOOD filter, not some cheap one at autozone.

It will increase over all power/torque, increase mpg, better the shifting, has different levels for mpg, towing, and performance, read and clear DTC's, Data log, 0-60 times... Read through the stickies at the top of the page.

True but where is the fun in that... its a truck, a heavy truck, it will never get "great" mpg... If you want great mpg buy a prius.
