Muffler Options
uh huh... I know all about how they sound, I use to have one... how they sound is all opinion just like any other exhaust. Thats why I asked about it
yes i will have to agree with you lastrights he does buy alot of mufflers i guess hes seeking a certain sound .....i like my f/m 40 but when it takes the heave ho....im switching to abetter flowing exhaust and im not sure what and i'm not gonna go thru this cause he has and some others have.....im thinking either cherrybomb extreme or at 3030 those are are my options
The aggressive muffler tone bug is back, and I want to buy a new muffler for the truck. After about three months driving around with the magnaflow, I feel the same way about it as I did when I had one on my 2001; quiet and boring. I have already tried the flowmaster super 44 and the flowmaster 50 hd, and both dissapointed me. The super 44 wasn't loud enough but droned like a mother, and the 50 hd was pretty nice, but I could have used something with a little more noise. I was thinking about just going with the good old original 40 series, but before I jump the gun I wanted to know what are some options you guys thought would be unique and interesting. I do have the exhaust cut-out, but I hardly use it; I don't really care for the sound.
Yeah, mufflers have always been my weakness lol. I thought the combo of the exhaust cut-out and a quiet muffler would suffice, but I'm just not feeling it. I hardly use the cut-out because it just isn't smooth enough for me while I'm daily driving. I feel like my truck dogs while it's open, but maybe that's just in my head. The magnaflow sounds nice, but it begins to sound like a 4 cylinder car after a couple of hours driving around with the annoying hum with little to not tone variation.
Based off some of the input I've gotten, I think I'm going to give the cherry bomb extreme a shot. From what I hear, a lot of you guys claim it doesn't drone; which surprises me since it's a single chambered muffler. I've tried tons of Flowmasters, so maybe it's time I give cherry bomb a shot. The Aero seems a tad expensive and I don't think they offer it with a dual outlet muffler either.

no they dont. i found that out as well. but i did find at summitracing.com you can get a magnaflow dual 2.5" intlet and 3" outlet y-pipe stanless steel to match the aero for like 28 bux. the muffler is pricey though: i found myself saying the same thing.
