o2 dodge 4.7 i just put a gas cap on and looked at all the lines well some and i got under my truck it looks like a line comeing from the box on the driver side fell on to my header it looked like a vent cap does any body know what this is and could it be the problem i taped it up because it was melted on the one side and were to get one thanks for the help

 

Should be the evap system canister for gas tank fumes.

 

First of all, PLEASE use punctuation so its not so hard to understand everything you are trying to say. Secondly, do you have a check engine light on? Lastly, go to Autozone or someplace like it and get some more hose and the little plastic nipples needed to splice hoses together with and put it back like it was.

 

Check for vacuum leaks near the area where you found the dangling hose end. While the engine is at idle, lightly mist the air with WD-40 and see if there is a up change in rpm. If so, the opening is near. Check around the charCoal canister for open ports.
