Default New parts... New problems...

Alright guys now that the headers are on, I am now getting a sound when turning. Wasn't there before the install, and is there now. Almost sounds like a buzzing sound when turning the wheel coming from what I think is the passenger side front tire. What could I have done to cause this during the install???? headers are tight and tq down to spec.

what are the clearances like? Did you move any heat shields? those would be the first paces to check IMO.

Is it when rolling and turning or at a stop and turning?

only when i'm stopped and turning or at a slow roll. I dont see how the heat sheild would cause the noise since the inner fender liners are in and are not rubbing.

hmm weird. Maybe get a buddy to cycle the steering while you watch for things that might flex or contact during the cycle. If you trusted your buddy enough you could ride on the front of the bumper while he idles the truck around and turns the wheels at a slow roll maybe you could really locate where its coming from.

I'll have someone go out and turn the wheel tomorrow at work. I also have another clip I will post up that you can hear it in (as well as the LT's) so maybe that will help diagnose the problem

In your pictures where you can see the upper control arm it looks like the alignment spacer is pretty close to the tube. Maybe all you need to do is grind that down a bit. It really wound take much even if it is close for the truck to flex just that little bit to make an annoying noise.

hemiguy0302 - If you were closer around here I'd buy you a beer. The spacer was touching the one of the header pipes and you could see where it was rubbing about a 1/4" on each side of the spacer. I took my dremel out cutoff about a half inch or so and the noise is gone. It was not touching when it was up on jack stands and we didn't hit it while installing it either. I hope trimming that spacer doesn't do anything though, I wouldn't think so but my knowledge on suspension systems isn't that great.

here is what I was hearing though:

glad you figured it out i guess i was wrong in the headers thread i was guessing on the p/s pump low on fluid.....you should be a ok on cutting that tab off as long as it still locks for you in case you ever need to replace bushings it helps lock the head of the bolt so you only have to wrench the nut....

haha so your not coming up to Canada for a beer. Sure happy you were bale to get rid of that problem pretty quick and no that little tab is used for aligning the front suspension the part you cut off of that tab is just a long piece that aids the building of the front suspension at the factory so no need to worry about anything.
