That's right. Use what you trust.

I don't think the 5w30 does anything for the tick, at least on mine...I've used Mobil 1 5w30 from the 1st change and still have it. I probably could go 5k like these guys are saying, but old habits die hard and I'm still changing at 3k. Wix, NAPA gold and Mobil 1 filters are rated well. Try to stay away from Fram. All of the technical reviews I've read on Frams say they're crap (IE cigarette butts found in the pleating, weak bypass, etc).

One of these days I have to take mine in (it hasn't been in the shop for anything yet) so they can tell me don't worry about the tick.

Sorry, by lighter oil reducing/eliminating the tick, I was referring to the 5w20 referred to in the original post. I've never had the tick, but many who run 5w30 had their tick go away when switching to 5w20. I think DC has a bulletin out on running the lighter oil in all Hemis.

So you're all suggesting at least Mobil 1, 5w30 and DC might be saying go to 5w20 huh?

and they also clean my engine if its dirty

Own a 05 QD 1500 Hemi ... read Owners Manual cover to cover. Have it in hand. Whats recommended is 5w20. Have the truck since 3/6 .. just turned 6k ... live in the sticks o NC tween Hillsborough and Roxboro .... drive all of 'em .. not hard ... just lotsa miles ... change mine very 3000 ....

BUT ... what really gets my nads in a twist is -- I bought the maintenance plan. Every time I bring it in, those knuckle heads use 10w30. Quite annoying. [:@]

Have you asked them why they are putting in the heavier oil? I think I'd have to say something. Just one more reason to perform my own service.

I agree, Todd.... last year I had a reputible oil company do my service on my Chrysler LHS, cost me 45 bucks, and got home, parked the car and came back and found all the oil on my driveway.... This was the second time I have had that happen from dealers and oil co's.......so, now, even tho i'm old (LOL) I still do my oun service, saves cleaning the oil from my driveway, and I KNOW what is going in to the engine also... plus I can see if I ran over anyone when I was playing "spin the tires".....

If you're talking about any of the quick change places around Winston-Salem, I'm not going to ask what happened. I had the same thing happen after visiting a Jiffy Lube up there several years back.
