Default Hello and Help 2008 Ram

Heya all,

New to the Ram family. Just got a 2008 dodge ram 5.7 hemi and love the truck..have an issue. Maybe you can help me. The vehicle apon acceleration seems like its not gettin power and there is a tinging sound, when I give it more gas it will stop but when going about 45 its starts again. Is that the way the truck is or is something wrong. Had many vehicles befor this but never heard that sound before.

welcome. It is called MDS. sounds funny and low on power when in 4 cyl mode. Try driving in tow/haul mode and see if it goes away. Also, according to the owners manual, they recommend 89 octane for the Hemi engine.

Default Hey thanks

I have used .87 OCT, 89 OCT, 91 OCT . I think it is the 4 to 8 cylinder changes. I wish they would not have done that. I recomendation is put it in tow.

If the problem is with the MDS system (never bothered me though), you can buy a chip that will retard the system or buy different lifters that aree non-MDS,

handheld tuner such as Superchips and Diablo predator allow you to disable the MDS.
You should run minimum of 89octane. hemi's are prone to detonation and serious damage can occur using 87oct.

Nope, you can only disable it with a hand help programmer as mentioned above.
