If I wanted to have my factory grill and front bumper painted to match the body, would I need to first sand all the "chrome" finish off? Or should it be ok with an adhesion promoter and primer?

as long as it is in the garage it shoulde be fine raw. but of course when you instal primer paint, yadadada. having them welded in is the only way to go.

Yeah, right now it's sitting in the garage. I will have it welded in soon. I'm gonna install it this weekend. I will primer it before I put it on my truck, wouldn't want any rust starting before it got painted.

It is "black", didn't know whether that was rust resistent or not. Of course the paperwork that came with it doesn't state anything about that.

You guys are all crazy about the taking the bed off all I did was remove the back four bolts and jacked the back of the bed up with the aformentioned 2 by 4 it only needs to come up like 1 or 2 inches there is a small pin that holds it in the frame. With the bed up a littel you can tilt the hitch up and pull it out. Good luck.

Well, since I don't have a paint gun, or air compressor, getting this stuff painted, unfortunately is gonna have to wait till I have funding to pay the bodyshop. Unless of course.......one of you guys close to me would be willing to allow me to borrow their spray gun for a day. LOL.

I figure I'll just let the body shop do it. I know there has been body work done on the truck since one side is a shade darker then the other. So any painting on a piece that meets both sides will have to be blended. I don't know how to do that. LOL. I'll leave that to the pro's.

I will let you all know how the roll pan thing comes out saturday night. I'm gonna try and tackle that one on saturday afternoon.

im in the same boat... i cant afford to get it painted right now, but i couldnt wait to put it on. but it kinda matches the "theme" of my truck which is black and blue. so its not that big of a deal.
