so i bought a roll pan for $109 shipped off ebay and it came with the plate light.i have someone buying my stock chrome bumper for $175 and also sold the stock black one i bought last week that i painted black with bedliner for $150.next step is taking the old bumper off which looks easy,i think there was like 8 bolts holding it on.my question is how hard is it to take the stock black heavy *** frame piece off that the bumper sits on? im not sure whats its called but one came with the bumper i bought and the thing weighs like 100 pounds, lol please tell me i dont have to lift the bed up or anything like that.i havent looked at it yet.has anyone taken that part off? is it easy? any pics or video?

I would like an answer to that one myself. Thus, why my rollpan hasn't been installed. I didn't know that black piece was there until I removed the darn bumper. LOL. Then I called the Dodge dealship, of course they had no idea what I was talking about. I wasn't about to drive it all the way over there without my bumper on. LOL.

are you talking about the tubular piece that the hitch bolts on to?if so i think it's like 3-4 bolts on each side, then it should drop out.i've had mine off a couple of times.and it's a PITA.since it was so heavy and i was by myself

you will have to lift your bed up, sorry bud. there are 6 bolts holding your bed on 19mm if i remember right. some people only loosen 4 but i did all six. another person to help is nice but i did mine by myself. take the bolts out, get some 5" pieces of 2x4. i used 4. and lift one side and slide one board in, then the other and repeat. then you can slide the brace out. its really not too bad. just dont drop anything on you.

This would be a nice DIY for someone to write up since this question comes up fairly often (hint, hint).

That's what I thought. When I was looking at it, I knew I was gonna have to take the bed off.

Just more proof that Dodge's are the better truck. Cause the guy that was helping me was like, I haven't ever seen that on any other truck. LOL.

Only 175? I just got 300 put of my bumper so I'm sure you'd be able to get more. As for the black tube, it's your tow packageand it's a pita to get out. I made a thread with pics awhile ago when I installed my roll pan. I'd get the link for you but I'm ony phone. Basically you need to take out the 6 bed bolts, unscrew the ground wire running from the cab to the bed, unscrew the gasline from the bed, then lift the bed about 4 inches off the frame. Make sure you don't hit the cab.
