Only if you have headers. Which brings me up to a good question, where do I get a set of headers for my 4.7L without giving them my arm and leg? LOL. All the ones I've seen listed are somewhere in the neighborhood of $650-700.

try your local muffler shop. i was quoted ~$400 for JBA shorties which i'm told are the best for our 4.7s

Gibson has a pair of shorties for around $450 on jegs.com that claim to keep factory placement, you could, if you are patient, install either the pipes or the headers first then when its affordable complete the system.... just thinking outloud.

So, I guess trying to get "long tubes" isn't gonna happen with the 4.7L, or do they even make "long tube" headers for trucks?

you can modify the long tubes from the 5.7 by replacing the flanges, but i was told by nick at airram.com that this would hurt the performance of the 4.7s unless you modded your truck to 350hp or more. basically if you're not supercharging your truck then the jba shorties will outperform the long tubes for us. if you still want long tubes, call nick he has a group buy going on for pre-modified long tubes for the 4.7s

Personally I have never seen a difference with a true dual exhaust set-up compared to a single inlet set-up (for mildly modded vehicles). In fact, I prefer the single inlet because they sound a hell of a lot better. Every true dual set-up seems to make some bizzare slapping/farting sound at full throttle even with a balance or cross-over pipe. My brother noticed no difference in power with his true dual set-up with longtube headers, a cold air intake, and a performance camshaft other than the fact the tone sounded worse than my exhaust. He eventually switched back over to the single inlet/dual outlet muffler because it simply sounded better. Best thing about it, you will save a lot more money going the single muffler route.

If yours is cat back then it's not a "true dual" setup.

Yeah it would be, hemi has two cats, if he went from the cat back to the muffler (glass pack in his case) on on each side then it would be a true dual setup. Not to be confused with a catback exhaust which comes off the Y pipe to the muffler and out

i was thrown off too. normally cat-backs dont include y-pipes, x-pipes, h-pipes, etc, but most cars have the cat(s) at the bottom of the y-pipe not at the top like ours do
