I think the problem with your brothers exhaust,05 hemi, is the machine he attached it to, i've had two fords and the best sound i ever heard from either exhaust was watching somebody else drive it away....

Yes, true dual's are better. But... Really shop arround for muflers and really shop around for muflers + shops, I will never Put any dynomax mufler or X type mufler on my truck again, I have even blow out mangna flow muflers, any mufler that is packed with fiber glass will not last.

I'm now running two muflers, 2.5 in I have not had any luck with a mufler that has two in lets, two out lets, ie one mufler.

In city drving, your going to lose some low end torque, shifting down will fix that, On the highway, you will notice performance and mpg is better, but for the cost of the conversion, its going to take time to recop the intial cost of going to a true dual set up.

I can average 20 mpg on 60 mph, 1800 Rpms with my reg cab 6sp hemi 2500, I have a topper and 373 ltd slip and run mobil syn.

Lol....although I love dodges, I love my fords as well. My brother's truck is one of a kind IMO. It actually has the 7.5L 460ci and it sounds great. Currently, he is running doug thorley tri-y headers, a high flow magnaflow catalytic converter, and single inlet/dual outlet super 44 muffler and I think it sounds amazing, especially with that lumpy cam he's got in it.

Yeah, I'm not really a Ford fan either. I can tell you that one of my favorite exhaust sounds comes from a small block ford (Mustang). Something about the H-pipe and no cats and flowmaster exhaust that does it for me. LOL. I do know however that with Fords it doesn't really matter what brand muffler you put on em, they have a very unique sound.

When I had my Z28 I would smoke just about every Mustang, or Cobra, I came across. But everytime I raced them I would always pay special attention to their exhaust sound. It's like music to my ears. LOL.

With all that being said, my Ram sound pretty similar to a small block ford. LOL. Well, it all depends on what range your at in the RPM band. There is a sweet spot in there, right around 2K-3500 rpm's. LOL.

guys im thinking of going x pipe with my longtubes and 2 magnaflow cats and 2 aeroturbine 2.5 all the way back you guys think it would sound good i did alot of re-search on x pipe and dont want the y-pipe anymore , y-pipe sounds more like a fart to me on rams ... x pipe sound even it all out plus i have 1.7 rockers and should make my exhaust a lil more beefier of a lope hehe

here is my research on the x pipe if you dude are interested http://www.streetdirectory.com/trave...ore_power.html

I am surprised to hear that your getting fart sounds from the y-pipe. I've always had the opposite experience, usually the y-pipes do a great job at equaling the sound out.

OK, so I read all of this thread and yea, I've still got a question. I've got the 5.7 Hemi, exhaust manifolds on both sides of engine, comes down to a pretty crushed up y pipe that is stock, goes into the muffler, then comes out with two pipes to the rear end. This is not "true" dual exhaust because they come into one muffler...correct?

The truck has a magnaflow muffler and custom exhaust from the muffler back. If I put in the magnaflow Y pipe and eliminate the crushed factory Y thats just about as good as a true dual setup. Right?

True duals would be one pipe coming off of each manifold running straight back to two separate mufflers and out to however you want to run them (out the back, sides dumped etc.). So NO the setup you are describing is NOT a true dual setup.
