Need to know the spark plug amount in a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Liter Engine. Is 16 really the amount?! I want to bring the truck to my mechanic and change them. When changing the spark plugs, is there something I should tell the mechanic to watch out for? This truck is my baby and I want everything to run the way it should.

 

Yes "16" is the magic number and other than a couple of tight spots its a pretty striaght forward job!

 

yeah it's 16....really no reason to have someone do it if you got some time on a saturday and some basic hand tools....6" extention, swivel(helpful), ratchet and a spark plug socket...cylinder 7 plugs aren't great but fairly easy to get at through the fenderwell

 

^He's right^. If you have the tools it is not that hard of a job to do yourself.

 

But wait, why didnt you go pop up your hood and look? And if you dont get out there and change the plugs yourself, we will never let you call yourself a man. ;-)

 

Take it to the mechanic! If your skill level is not high enough to pop the hood latch and look to see how many plugs there are, you don't need to be trying to change them yourself...

 

Just by looking, itis hard to tell how many there are. The coils cover both plugs at once so if you didn't know better, you can't see the dual plugs under them. It's easy to see them on the old wasted spark system from 03-05 because of the plug wires.
