I dropped my vehicle off tonight to have it serviced on tomororw morning. I'm having them perform the 30,000 mile maintainence package on the truck considering mine has 36,000 on it now. I didn't really want to have to pay for it but I want to have data that will support my warranty incase anything goes wrong with the truck later down the road. It's going to cost me around $420, it was a little extra to have them do the synthetic engine oil.
What exactly are they doing? Sounds too good to be true. Most 30K service costs are in the $700-$800 range. I've seen Chrysler customers quoted nearly a grand for it.
Wow, Mine costed me about $200. 30K mile maintance is Oil and oil filter, Air filter, Plugs, Transfer case and Tranny fluid and flat filter (Although I did both), front and rear diff fluid. I also flushed coolant and replaced it. Of course I did mine myself.
I hate dealerships and trust NONE. Good luck with yours though.
I don't trust any mechanics....period. It's a field that lacks any sort of checks and balances to protect the average consumer. I think it's a discrace how mechanics pretty much have it at their leisure to make a bill up. To make matters worse, most people don't know enough about vehicles to even argue about the projected bills.

Good luck with it. Hope they do ya right.
They are changing the oil and filter with mobil 1, rotating the tires, replacing air filter if necessary, replacing the pcv valve, replacing the spark plugs, and lubricating brake booster bellcrank pivot. They also will be inspecting the tires for pressure etc, battery tightening and cleaning, checking all lights, checking exhaust, checking brake lines and hoses (cleaning and lubing them), adjusting park brake if necessary, checking cv joints and front and rear suspension components, checking cooling system hoses and clamps, and checking fluid level and adding if needed for brake master cylinder, transmission, power steering, coolant reservoir, and windshield washer solvent.
All of which you know you could do yourself and most you should already be doing as an owner. Not saying you dont or cant but IF you dont know how then you do need to learn. Thats just for your protection as a customer and owner.
