[quote=xill;1873337]looks like everyone has already chimed in on the tire sizing issue, so i'll chime in on the powder coating... NO! if you had a black truck i'd say sure, but the factory painted/machined wheels match your silver paint perfectly. if it was me i'd leave'em alone unless you're planning to go with a different wheel. if you want to be different, then a better option might be to only powdercoat a section of them. like the centers of each of the 5 spokes and leave the trim on either side of the spoke in the machined finish. that would give it a completely different look while still matching your truck too...[/quote

I was thinking the same thing! powder coat/or paint the centers, and leave the polished part alone! and yes 33's will work.

The rim width does not affect the tire height, just the width!

Man, I missed the first time this thread was brought back, now its happened again!!

I still haven't done a damn thing to the truck, besides the few Christmas things I got. Whats the saying... "Life Happens". I went 3 weeks straight without working (2 before Christmas), so we're playing catch-up now. But, o-well, gotta take the bad with the good when it comes to life.......

Anywho, I just did the tire calc for what I have on there now, and they are 32's! 265/70/17. They just look way punier than that. Now Im kinda disappointed, I was thinking there would be this "big transformation" with the bigger tires. I know 285 would be the widest, but what about a 285/75? Comes out to a 34x11.5, roughly. Think that'd be too narrow for that height? Im not trying to look like a swamp buggy out there, lol.

Just trying to keep the convo alive fellas....... If ya wanna shoot me now, just load'er up, I'LL pull the trigger

Well, with the swarm of tire threads here in the past couple days, I'll refrain from firing up another one. Instead, Ill get the shovel out and rob this grave

My birthday is coming up at the end of this month, which = TIRES!!! Finally! I already know I'm deadset on the NTG's, from what Ive seen on here and the reviews Ive read, along with what I can afford, they seem to be the best choice.

I'm still undecided on the size. After seeing that CwboyJohnny is running 295/70's, that got the wheels turning (no pun intended). Can I run a 34" tire without a level? I'm betting that's pushing it, more than Im willing to. So, my options now are 295/70's or 285/75's. Is there any difference really between the 2? Pros/cons of either? Im mainly looking to fill that wheel well up. I can make'm "look" wider with spacers, from what I've read.

Discount tire has the 285/75's for $205 and the 295/70's for $188. There's only .5in difference, not really worth the $17each difference, is it? I don't need any higher load rating, as my truck is hardly ever used for what its made for ()

I'm pulling the trigger here real soon, like within the next week or so. The $$ is lined up, and my other tires have cupped so bad the wires are getting close to showing (yes, an alignment has been figured into the costs). So, no more bluffing, its gonna happen

Thanks again guys

The price difference between the 285/75 and the 295/70 most likely comes down to the popularity of the tire. The 285/75 probably doesn't sell as well as the 295/70 so they jack the price up a little bit. The difference between them looks like it is pretty small. If you set them side by side, the 285/75 may look a little taller and skinnier. But we're talking 1/2" taller and probably even less on the width.

I don't think it's worth the extra $68 myself.

It's good to see you're finally getting those old cupped, tired tires changed out. Yes, you can run the 295/70 without a problem. I would personally say just stick with the 295's. They're a large enough tire for you and if it saves you money over a tire that's about a 1/2 inch taller and thinner than the 295's don't waste the extra money. You will not be disappointed with the Nitto's. Just an extra note, make sure every 3-4000 miles you have them rotated. The Discount Tire I got mine at the manager ran these on his Super Duty and got the best life out of 'em with rotating at that mileage.
