tight budget tire question

Those tires do look like they have descent life left to them but certainly not 80%. The angle of the penny shot should be from the side so you can see where the depth is on Lincolns head.
However, they certainly are worth $175 for 4 wheels/rims no doubt. If they are good for your application is another story.

My best recomendation is to put a few bags of tube sand in your bed over the axle and that alone will make a huge improvement in sloppy weather conditions.

check around for wholesale deals for your 20"s i saw a place on craigslist locally who had real good deals on 20's and 22's like blowout prices on brand new tires ....

Wooo there! Im a college student too. I paid for my truck and everything on it. Along with the gas, registration, and insurance. Don't you just hate seeing those kids who their parents buy them a brand new tahoe, then a month later it's their birthday and they get brand new 22" wheels and a system. I hate that. then they brag about there car like they bought it.

My application is occasional driving during the week, maybe 15 miles in small trips miles and every other weekend ill be traveling 200+ miles (prob 7 trips total) im assuming ill get better mileage with the 17's?

Where you located, I have a set of chrome 17's with tires and spare that have about 70percent tread and the spare has never been used. We could probably work out a pretty good deal if you located fairly close.
