Default tight budget tire question

im kinda on a tight budget and looking to get some tires to get me through the winter. i found a set of 17" online with 245/70/17 michelin tires with about 80 tread, or should i just replace 2 rear tires, buy one and take the unused one off the spare to put on rears for my stock 20's which are about done? are there any issues i would have with dropping down to these small 17's besides it looking funny? i have a super chip so i could change the speedo. heres pic of rims..

heres my truck...

where are you located? Cuz those stock tires blow in the rain/snow. Certainly not made for winter anything. And i doubt those Michelins are any better?

Those tires you have there, what are the markings on them? Gotta look at the weight limits of the tires. I think they are too small personally. 245 is pretty narrow. Sure narrow does better, but check the weight requirements first. They need to be rated at 2,000lb minimum cuz your truck unloaded is 6,000lbs
You can replace all 4 for under $800 if buying all 4 new one's.
How much are you willing to spend? How much are those tires in the pic?
Any time I have looked at used tires and they are claimed to have 80% tread, they are more like half worn. people don't ahave tire depth guages and they certainly don't have new tires to compare against.

Finally another college kid whose parents don't pay for their truck like myself.
I would go with two tires for the rear. The cheapest way is to get the tires yourself and bring just the tires and rims to be mounted. otherwise they charge you hourly to take the rim off the truck, take the old tire off, but the new on and then put it back on the truck.

Those michelins are what came stock on my 04 ST and they are rated at 2205 lbs. per tire, see here http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...um%3D47R7LTXAS. They do suck in the rain and probably snow too, but I haven't driven on mine much in the snow. I don't see any issues if you get those and reprogram your speedo except that they won't give you good wet traction.

The thing I dont like about tirerack is the extra fees. The tires are a lot cheaper but every place I have checked that is suppose to be a dealer to do the mounting all want to charge $25 per tire to mount them, $10 for balancing, and $5 per valve stem so in the end a cheap tire is about the same as one from discount. My tires are getting pretty worn right now and need to changed soon but two tires is gonna be about $410. Im thinking sisnce I have the $40 warranty from discount I may have to run over a few bolts to have them replaced under warranty... I know kinda bad way to do it but if I do two tires like that and pay out right for 2 thats still a sh*t load of cash for the tires.
