Default Installing a hemi in a 2002 Ram Help!

I have purchased an 07 Hemi engine and tranny from a Ram 2wd and I have a 02 Dodge Ram 4x4. I had the 4.7 and replaced it once already and now realize that they are junk. I got a great deal one this engine and tranny with ecu and wiring and with all of the accessories on the engine.

So I have read some info on this and have a bunhc of questions if anyone can help me out.

1. Will my transmission work with the 07 hemi and what makes the 45RFE and 545RFE different?

2. Will my 4.7 motor mounts work on the hemi? If not whiich ones do I use?

3. I see my computer(s) are different from the 07 will I need to change my cab wiring or can I splice the wires?

4. What exhaust setup will bolt up to this engine? ie headers, y-pipe, cat back?

I am sure I will have more questions, but any help on these few questions will be greatly appreciated.

I think that's why he wants to use his old tranny.

It can be done, here's what I know. You should be able to get motor mounts from a hemi truck to use to bolt in the hemi. The hemi should bolt to your transmission. The 5-45 is only different by electronics as far as I'm aware. If you want to stay cheap, just get a set of used manifolds from a hemi and take it into an exhaust shop to get them to put an exhaust on from the manifolds. Then, as far as electronics go, I've heard too many different answers on that one to know for sure. Sorry.

well check out my thread on swapping a hemi, cuz i actually am swapping an 05 5.7L hemi and trans out of a durango, into my 02 dodge ram 1500, 4x4 auto, and yes the trans, transfer case, exhaust, cooling system are all the same and bolt right up, the most important things you need to know is that the hemi motor mounts WILL NOT WORK PERIOD! you need to take the hemi mounts and weld over or bolt through the 4.7 mounts, i have pics on my photobucket account that shows how and compares the two, the link to it is on my hemi engine swap thread, the engine and trans computers must be switched out to the hemi ones, they bolt right up in the same spot and look the same, or you have to go to the dealership and see if they will flash them and install the right software for ya, the intake system is almost the same, the fuel system is the same setup, but you just need to run a rubber hose with clamps to connect the fuel line to the fuel rail, and for the last two, i must warn you, they are the two hardest things to overcome, first the hemi is drive by wire and the 4.7 is drive by cable, so you have to get a FAST drive by cable throttle body and adapter so you can use your gas pedal and cable assembly in the truck already, or you have to get a drive by wire pedal and wire it in, and lastly the second hardest part is getting all the wiring and wiring harnesses in, routed and working right, especially if you dont get the main engine to body wiring harness with the engine and trans alltogether, cuz i still havent found one for my swap, cuz you cant use the 4.7 main harness, cuz the hemi has 4 plugs going to the engine computer and the 4.7 has three plugs, and the fuel injection harness is integrated into the 4.7 main engine bay harness, and on the hemi the fuel injection harness is separate and plugs into the main engine bay harness, so i hope that helps, and check out my thread and message me if ya got anymore questions, cuz i can give ya all the info, tips, tricks, ideas i have had and might get as i finish my swap

here is the link to my thread for my hemi swap:

Can be done, yes. Is cost effective, no.

Number one, I don't know why you say the 4.7 is junk. Properly taken care of, it is a solid, long lasting engine. Many people on here have them with very high miles and they still serve them. I personally know two people with over 200,000 miles on theirs. One has relagated it for off-road use in his 4x4, the other still uses it for a daily driver in his Grand Cherokee with 230,000+ miles on it.

Number two, if you KNOW PEOPLE who have done this conversion, seems they would be able to tell you all you need to know...
