exhaust question
Well like I said you can order the muffler and y-pipe online and just take it somewhere and have it installed. Are you getting any kind of tips and does it matter to you whether you have duals or a single tailpipe? If you don't care about the tips and all that BS then I would recommend a new y-pipe and an 18" magnaflow dumped after the rear axle.
yeah im not doin tips or dual out.i just want the y and muffler replaced and im gonna paint the end part that shows (black) im just trying to get it to sound nice and loud without spending almost $500
If you want nice and loud, why don't you get a cutout?
well i dont want it super loud so that it wakes all the neighbors in the morning, lol i had a flowmaster exhaust on my expedition that i loved.it was a single in dual out that sounded nice and loud but it cost me $400 and all it was,was a muffler then pipes bent to fit so there was one on each side and they had chrome tips. im ok with having it look like the stock setup with no tips on it but just replacing the muffler and adding a better y pipe. i checked out the at3030 on youtube and it sounds good but im not sure which one will sound the best -magnaflow or the at3030.i dont want another rustmaster.if i go magnaflow i dont know what muffler is the best deepest loudest sounding. i thought id order the muffler online to get it cheaper but i also dont know what size in and out i need.
Well I think you need a 2.5" in 3" out y pipe and a 3" in 3" out muffler like this one http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8174.
Search around to confirm the size or go out to your truck and measure the pipes going into the stock y and the tailpipe size. Also make sure the shop uses stainless pipe if you're worried about it rusting and check to see how your stock muffler is setup w/ the offsets for the inlet and outlet for when you order the new one.

my shop wants $475 to replace the stock exhaust with a magnaflow exhaust system.this system will be a magnaflow muffler with 1 in and 2 outputs for dual exhaust. so my question is -if i just bought a magnaflow muffler off ebay for $70 would my stock exhast become louder or do i really need the dual exhast and pipes for it to be louder?
