exhaust question
my shop wants $475 to replace the stock exhaust with a magnaflow exhaust system.this system will be a magnaflow muffler with 1 in and 2 outputs for dual exhaust. so my question is -if i just bought a magnaflow muffler off ebay for $70 would my stock exhast become louder or do i really need the dual exhast and pipes for it to be louder?
really? if you remove the resonator? i guess a catback is out of the question then, because they dont have resonators on them.
+1 on new muffler and Y. no need for all new pipes. i got my muffler (at3030) for around $100, then had that, and a custom Y welded in for $100. its a pretty bitchin setup for only $200. thats half of what you would pay for a catback.
and as far as duals go. unless you go true duals, its more or less for just the looks of the two tail pipes IMO. personally, i wouldnt go duals unless it was a true dual setup with an X or H pipe, and two mufflers.

So does any y pipe work with my stock exhaust or do i need a certain one? Im clueless when it comes to exhaust. I want something nice sounding and loud, lol so just a y pipe and muffler then have someone weld it in?

Hey, You having lous custom exhaust put it on. There are like 10 lous custom exhaust in ma and they do great work. All of my cars and trucks have been there and they are cheap. But it does seem alittle high for what you want done. I went to lous and they told me 400 for dual with a single in dual out magnoaflow mufller and dual tips out the back. Check different lous, they all have different prices but the one in north reading is pretty cheap. I go there the most.
Magnaflow y-pipes are a good choice that a lot of people use and they're pretty inexpensive. I would just order the y and the muffler and take them to the shop and have them weld them in and take the old stuff out. I think the y that most people get is 2.5" in and 3" out, but check and confirm that before you order it.
