Also, a "P" tire will often not have near the same tread depth that the same tire in an "LT" will.
The 295/70R17's I was referring to are LT's ^^ I know about the P's typically being the cheaper tire which is why I was stoked and confused at the same time that the 295's were cheaper than it's 285 brother and just barely more than the 265's.

I am no tire expert or anything about tires.

From what i hear 285/70R17 should able to fit in with no problems and it is 33" tall, please correct if im wrong. I can get 265/70R17 easy as simple for stock size.

My tires is getting worse on wet performance.

Which tire size should i go with Nitto terra grappler? FYI, I now travel highway around 80 percent and 20 in city for school.

I went to the town fair tires just for the quote and the quote is 707.66 dollars without the labor i think. It is for 165/70R16. They must be trying to convince me to buy the tires. Not going to happen before i am sure i am getting the right size.

I have heard the 285/70R17 will fit under stock height like you said earlier, I have been looking into that size also, I don't think there should be a problem.

So after reading this thread and up on tires a little bit, I think I have finally deciphered the markings on the tires. I have already gone and gotten new tires for my truck (somehow the tread rapidly wore out on the rear stock tires, the only clue was some sort of black rubbery substance on the ground in a parking lot nearby ). The replacements are BFG All Terrains. The size info is LT285/70R17D1 121R B. Now if I have it right, that means my tires are 32.71 inches in diameter, this could be called 33 inches right and is where that common size comes from?, are 11.22 inches wide and the sidewall height is 7.85 inches, correct? Assuming I got all that right, what does the rest of that info mean? I assume LT = light truck and the load rating is probably somewhere in the D1 121R B part right?
