Default How many quart of oil can you drain from 5.7 hemi engine?

I was only able to get about 5qt of fluid in the waste bottle. Granted there are still some oil absorbed in the filter, this is far less than the official 7qt capacity. Also it took less than 6qt of new oil to raise the oil level between min and max.

How much oil can you drained from the 5.7L hemi engine? I'm worried about leaving a full quart of dirty oil in the engine.

I've never measured how much comes out. I just let it drain a long time to get the maximum out. When I refill, I put oil in the filter before I attach it. I put in five quarts and check the stick, adding 'til it's at the "max" indicator.

For a guess, I'd say half-a-quart remains in the galleries and clinging to surfaces.

I noticed this to when I do my oil changes, Im always about 1/2 - 1 litre short from what I put in to what I get out.. But my truck has never gone below the max line, I check it before I do the oil change, I just cant figure out where it goes..

There will always be some oil left in the engine that won't come out with a normal drain. You cannot measure how much comes out unless you have a specific measuring device and checked your dipstick level to see if you've burned any oil... Also, the oil filter holds a bit of oil.

Whatever the dealer drains out

You will never get the full capacity out of any engine. There is always oil laying in passages, on the lifter valley, in the lifters themselves, in the heads, etc.
Usually if the engine holds 6qts, you will usually fill a gallon jug with the drained oil.
