Plastic Clearance Issues
if you think off roading is so much fun dude, you bought the wrong truck.
you need a 4x4 or at least a lift of some sort to prevent the bottom end dents and such. Like somebody said before, treat your truck like what it is and you will be good. If you don't then get used to repairing dents and broken parts. And BTW when you go off roading and gripe about scratches and dents then IMHO you should stay on the street. just my
I understand Bear but I'm gonna bitch about whatever I can.
O btw Golden Poon! lol I love my truck and don't like scratches and dents but at the same time I don't want my truck to be some pavement queen that can only spend her time on the streets.

Can't take her off road then get all hung up on some scratches bud...
I'd put the plastic piece back on tho im my opinion.. It will help with cooling and I think our trucks look "buck tooth" with out them ha ha...

Sorry to be the bearing of bad tidings, but your truck is a pavement queen, and will be as long as it is a stock 2wd.
Another thing to keep in mind, scout everything before you make the choice to do it, I have a buddy who would still have his first car if he wasnt so stupid as to do something without first checking it out.
And longbeds... offroad? yeah...maybe with at least 6 inches of lift or more... but without lift you are talking about a vehicle that has no ability to maneuver. I had a buddy with a longbed ford with 8 inches of lift and 38's and his truck even had a harder time than my old 2nd gen shortbed with only 3 inches of lift and 35's.
Basically my advice to you would be to get rid of your 2wd longbed and work on finding a 4wd shortbed.

Ok, well now that I know almost everyone's opinion. I don't think my baby is gonna be goin offroad anymore. It was kind of a spur of the moment idea that I don't plan on doing any more.
Off roading is all about angles. Angle of approach, angle of departure. It's why a short wheelbased Jeep or even a little cheazy Suzuki Samurai has it all over us off the pavement...
dont listen to them shiloh, if you wanna go offroading then go, but be prepared to have damage. if you want to protect your doors, get some rock sliders.
im not real fond of the rocker panels being part of the door on these trucks.
