05 1500 Front Diff exploded
I had my truck in 4hi and heard a snap.
Thats when i had no more front end pulling. Found out what was wrong while cleaning the truck. I'll post pics later today. This is the 5th 4wd truck i've owned in 25 years and i've never seen it happen i also maintain pretty well and keep up with maintainance schedules. I wonder if the 7/70 will cover?

I would take it to the dealer and see if the powertrain warranty will cover it. Sounds like it just came apart. Seems odd that the front diff would break unless you were bouncing the front end like trying to climb a hill and spinning.
Wow, I just noticed in your sig, a diesel 2500 no less! I for sure haven't seen that happen. Now I know the Chrysler Corporate (AAM) axles aren't in the same league as the Dana's, but still...
I were cornfused, because you had the title of the thread as 1500, but then your sig said CTD 2500, so I thought you may have just typo'd the thread title. Not that it's any better for you, but I really was shocked if that was a 9.25" SFA that went. Still, that's an epic fail! You'd think a CV would blow well before the pumpkin blew up on you!!!
As stated, I've never seen a front go like that, and the only rear ones I've seen split the housing were caused by the infamous Chrysler LSD blowing out the differential...

When i heard the "SNAP" i figured the front drive shaft or a universal but this is ridiculous. I have General grabber tires with street tread that had no traction in the mud I was in and where spinning pretty freely and good fluid in the diff.
Wow!!!! That almost seems like a manufacturing defect. I've never seen amything like that happen! Maybe you should've been in 4 low instead of hi and taken it a little slower. The only time I've seen anything close to that is in the mudhole's here in FL is because of a little too much alcohol and a heavy foot. LOL just kidding with you. good luck. That sucks
