^ Yeah, that'll fool them. I was going to church at 35 mph, and bammm! I'm not sure how that happened. That's covered right?

The first dealer I talked to wanted maint. records. The next dealer i talked to looked at it said it should be covered but needed to be put on a lift and approved by the service manager. I then got the song and dance and a cost repair estimate for $2100.00 and was told that Dodge wouldn't cover it because there is mud undere my truck. I told them to pull it out. I went back in the sales dept. where they were trying to sell me a 2010 while i was waiting. Thats when i talked to the Gen Mgr. and they had a meeting (Gen Mgr, Service MGR, Owner, Service writer) then the GM and Service Mgr pulled me in and said they didn't know where the confusion was and they wanted to pull the front end apart and see if it could be covered. So it's at the dealer and i'm waiting on a determination.

I fail to see the significance of mud being under your truck being a detriment to your obtaining warranty service.
Where does it say that your warranty is void if you take a 4x4 off pavement?

I know for a fact when I blew a stock there was all kinds of evidence that I was off-road with it. Now I wasn't "joy riding" or but did gun it a little bit thru some shallow mud. Basically was going fishing not long after a heavy rain and decided to play a little whilst on the way to the fishin' hole.

Dealer replaced the shock, no questions asked. My only inconvenience was it took them 2 days to get the shock.

If they decide it's not covered, you need to raise a stink about it...

Hell YA, Don't let them pull that crap. Go up to the Gen Mgr and ask them if you should have a lawyer look over the warranty, Bet that will get some attention. Extremely little you can do to void the warranty, Specially on a break like that.

Burden of proof is on them, Really even not changing the fluids has to be outright proven by them, Even if you don't have a written service history. Not to mention that it doesn't matter how old the fuids are there not gonna cause a dammage like that.

Also with a break like that, There almost has to have been a defect in the casing that was overlooked. They don't JUST break! Like everyone has said, it is alot more likely that just about anything else would have gone long before the diff casing. The only other thing that might have caused a break like that is also covered under warranty, And that is an imbalanced driveshaft. You couldn't have broken it like that if you had taken it out and started hitting with a 20lb maul.

Depends which Dana your talking about. My C8.25 rear kills the D35 hands down. And is almost the equal of a D44.

Assuming the same diameter of course, I don't think it's fair to compare an 8.25" differential to a 7.5" one. But you are right, the D35 is often referred to as a "weak" axle, very much unlike it's bigger brother, the 8.5" D44.

It's a shame only Furd still uses D60s as front axles, twas a time when Furd, Chrysler and Dodge used them...

i've jumped my truck clear off the ground several times and have yet to do that, that's got to be a defect in the metal and if it was me, i'd threaten to sue their asses into the ground. What if that front driveshaft had fallen out and caught the road surface, that truck would have gone *** over teakettle and you would probably be dead.
