That is the way to do it. If you haven't bought the filters yet Rockauto has a nice deal on the pair.

so dodgenitto u are right- mechanics flushed the trans oil, now its leaking horribly, very very low trans oil left in it, transmission slipping/burning smell , check engine lights on.
can you identify exactly where the leak is coming from?

no we were just working on it in the dark but i mean the entire thing is just covered. its not dripping on the ground tho.

another thing i was thinking maybe if i do need to replace the tranny, was to try to get one off of a wrecked ram? maybe try to save money or is this not the place to try to take shortcuts?

If you can find one on a wrecked ram with low miles that would be the way to go.

But if it was your mechanics fault then THEY need to buy you a new one, or a re-built one at the very least.

Now I'm starting to think maybe a drain and filter change might just be the ticket. Thinkin the flush might just be the devil!!!
A lot of these quick lube places use a machine called the "T-Tech". I connects to the transmission lines and sucks the fluid out and replaces the same amount through the return line. All you are doing basically is a fluid replacement, and lots of times these places use a universial fluid, not brand specific. You are right, a job done half arsed is a job not done at all.

To the OP. If your mechanic wont make it right and you end up holding the candle, I saw a couple transmissions on ebay the other day. They come out of wrecks and there were 2 of them for $725 a piece and another hundred or so for shipping. Might help until you can save to put something better in there.

You never know. Some places would surprise you. Not all of them are dishonest people. Most but not all.

Second option pay an attorney a couple hundred for a phone consultation with him and he will probably settle with you then.
