Hey guys, I feel like I am beating a dead horse here but what the hell here i go. I have a 02' quad cab 2wd, i recently added the 2.5" leveling kit to the front and then had to add one inch blocks to the rear to actually level it. I am running 285/70/17's on it with absolutly no issues. Well I am in need of new tires and would like to know if anyone has run bigger tires then this? I am looking at 305/70's but would love to go 315. Has anyone had experience doing this to this truck? would like to get the biggest I can of course. Don't mind adding 1/4" spacer's, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also what extended shocks is everyone actually running I read somewhere on here that someone used Expedition shocks on thiers. I tried from a '98 and they did'nt work. Thanks again

 

You can definitely run the 305's no problem. You can also get extended shocks lots of places. I've personally had no problem with the rough country longer shock they sell (part number 8117) I beleive. It's for 2wd between 2-4" lifts. I paid less than $60 dollars for the two on the front and had them the next day.

 

you should be able to fit at least 35's

 

Keep in mind, that I've heard some guys on here say that after a leveling kit, you can run 35's but there may be some rubbing at full lock. You may want to think about a spacer just to be safe, but other than that, no...no clearance issues at all.

 

35's will fit with a level ram, just crank torsion bars a wee bit and you'll be ok. add fender flares and you wont have any rub.

Awesome, I was thinking 315"s would be too much. Did you do the shocks with the coils or after? I was a moron and only did the leveling kit and am now regreting not doing the shocks. I'm lucky to still have my kidney's, its so damn bouncy!

 

haha, yeah. Unfortunately like you I didn't do the shocks at the same time and lord, the ride was h***! I ordered the shocks about two days later because I couldn't take it anymore. You definately need the longer shocks, some people on here say you don't but for me, it was night and day.

 

Also, if you don't want to spend the money on new shocks, just buy the shock relocation kit. They are small brackets that basically bolt into your stock locaton, are 1-3" long, and you bolt your old shock into them. It retains factory shocks and factory ride.

 

good point ^^ just in my opinion factory shocks suck!!! So, sooner or later you'll have to buy new shocks and for 60 dollars for the two longer ones, you really can't beat it. But Ryde has a good point if you're really stretching the dollar.
