Alarm on Tail Gate?
So in winter i do alot of snowboard racing and what not.
I store my boards in my box while i ride.. tuesday,thursday-friday my boards are back there.
thre quite expensive so im thinking of buying a tonneau cover.
and some how arming the box with an alarm.
at my local electronics store they have a viper alarm 5900 for 188.99 CAD without install
i bet i could get it for 200 installed if i bargin with him a little bit..
i was thinking about one of thouse things that sets off the alarm when the hood is poped, maby attatching that to the bed door?
also maby making the door its self lock. and have the locking tonneau..
is there anyway to set it up so when i unlock the doors the bed unlocks aswell? or wiring up some type of electic locks for when the hindges get all frozen

ive got a locking tonneau cover on my 1500 and ive noticed that even when i have the alarm set on my truck, if im not super careful lifting the cover, i set my alarm off. for some reason i think its the whole action of lifting the back of my truck that sets it off. so you might want to get the tonneau cover first and see if your alarm is sensitive enough for that to trigger when you lift the cover. f not im sure you can pick up a magnetic sensor for the tonneau that will trip when the connection is interrupted.
i much rather have them in my truck then sitting on the ski hill waiting for some kid to walk by and snagg my board.
im not looking to buy a new tonneau where could i find a cheap tonneau cover. locking. preferebly a black fiberglass that matches the truck color?
I understand what you are wanting. If you find a used fiberglass cover that locks, then your stuff will be secure! if you want to alarm it as well thats even better! best place to look is in the parts for sale section here or Craigs list
we use that in canada its bigger than craigslist here.
he wants 375 cash. was asking 500
black fiberglass cover.

If it fits thats gonna be the cheapest option by far. Keep some lock de icer or one of those heater picks handy because in snowy conditions and in freeze thaw weather that lock will be a real big *****.
