Forget the sandbags.......use coolers full of beer!

For real though with the 4x4 you shouldn't need much back there. Keep your gas tank full for weight too. If you build a rack for your snowboards, something like this, then you have the whole area under the cover for storage. It only cost me like $10 to make this rack:

you still need the cross braces. I added them in circled. I suggest laying them flat (as drawn) elevated off the bed sitting on top of the tall edge of the other 2x4s, so you dont run into clearance issues with the snowboards

how many 2x4's u think il need? 5?
maby even 4 with the cut ends. i can probally find 2' 2x4s in my shop class at school

im thinking of using some metal brackets to hold the 2x4s in place. i have a plastic bed liner so it wont hurt any.
kinda like this.

Why not get one of those black bladders made for trucks that are filled with water? It's suppose to add a few hundred pounds and isn't very tall, so you can still put stuff on top of it.

It looks like a cool idea anyway... Christmas is right around the corner. LOL

guys the main purpose of doing this as i understand it, is to first make a rack for the snowboards so they dont slide around, while also being able to put sandbags in there for weight. the weight isnt necessarily needed because its 4x4 anyway.

Brado -- do you have the snowboards in a bag? or just out in the open? If out in the open, i suggest cutting slots in your 2x4 and lining it with cloth/rubber to stick the snowboards in so they're really secure. just laying them on the bed, even though its a plastic liner wont protect them from gettin beat up
