Default The Brown Suited Santa Visited me Today....

Finally got my fog light kit in today. I went with the oem Mopar kit, off ebay for $130 shipped. I probably could have gotten it for a few bucks cheaper, but I'm happy.

I also have the HID kit for these too. I fixed my headlights tonight, so the fogs should look great too.

2 questions

1) I got the new headlight switch with the fog light kit. From what Ive researched so far, I have to take most of the dash 'apart'. Any more insight/tips/help/advice on this? This seems to be the hardest part of the whole deal, so it shouldn't be too bad.

2) I know that I have to get the PCM hit with the scanner/programmer so it recognizes the fogs. Should I wait to put the HID's in till after I go to the dealership, or can I do everything all at once, then head over there (preference)?

I lied.....

3) The ol' man owns a transmission shop. Would he have some of the same computers that can do the reflashing? I might just give him a shout before I go to the dealership, see if he has anything that could do it....

Thanks for looking, and any advice ya'll got....

As far as the dash, I did this mod as well.....there are a couple of screws down low....and you can pull the dash out enough to get in there and unscrew the old switch. There are two screws that hold the switch in place. It helps to have a second person to assist. I'm sure the whole dash can come off, I just didn't do it.

And the dealership did not charge me to change the PCM.....and my fogs stay on with the highbeams!

Why would he have to take it to the stealership for lights? Mine (I'm assuming at least most other's have this as well) has the wires already ran down to the holes for pretty much just a plug and play setup it looks like. Given the switch in cab is wrong but what else does it require? I guess I'm just not understanding why it has to be so difficult.

On the 02-05 Rams that are prewired all you have to do is get the fog lights and a new switch and you are good to go. However on the 06-08 Rams that are prewired you still have to replace the switch and get the fog lights but after you have installed everything, you have to bring it to the dealer so they can tell the computer in the truck to turn the fog lights on, cause the truck doesn't know to turn the fog lights on or not.
