Question Snow Plow ON 3500??? HELP

I have a stock 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab. I am looking for help on what the best V - Blades are available for this truck. Plus I need help in the set up. What Parts do i need to buy? How much wear can I expect. What are the cons of putting this on? We will be doing this for commercial use. The truck is a long box but has a deck on the back. No it is not a dually. Help guys i need all the info i can get.

We will also be adding lights on the back, beacons, amber, spots, two back up cams, a dump controller right in the cab, toggles on the deck and inside the cab for all lights and cams. Eventually a sand spreader.

So keeping this in mind what do i need to do? I have heard of guys blowing tyrannies, power loss, alternators, etc...

Again all the info i can get.

What is with all the snow plow threads? It's 72 degrees outside, what the hell do you need a snowplow for?

My cousin has one of these on his truck, he likes it: http://www.bossplow.com/products/powerv

Cool Sounds Great. But why does dodge not recommend putting a plow on the front of a real mans truck???

They don't want to get sued if you manage to break something. The same reason my truck is only rated to carry 1800 lbs in the bed and it hauled 3100 lbs of sod just fine. Legally, they recommend against everything just to cover their asses.

I don't know why, but one dealer told me that it would (after I ordered the truck). I didnt agree with them so i called another dealer and they said it would only void the warrenty if damage could be traced back to the use of the plow. So I'm wondering if any little problem is going to be blamed on the plow. With two different answers I don't know if either guy knows what they are talking about. You would think that it would be covered, what do they think people are buying these things for. Next thing you know they will void your warrenty if you put something in the bed.

The Magnuson-Moss Act state that a dealer/manufacturer cannot refuse warranty work on a vehicle with aftermarket parts unless they can prove the aftermarket part caused damage. Your Megacab, despite having 1500 stamped on it, is a 2500 underneath. The only difference between a 1500 and 2500 MC are a few trim pieces.

Still not a big deal. Our charge out will pay for the repairs. Its all billed in. What are the things I need to do to the truck before hand? Bigger alts? Light adjustments? Etc... Any ideas.

Log in to Plowsite.com and start reading on the forums.

We need more info on your 3500. It is Hemi or Cummins powered? If Cummins, a plow will put it over the front axle weight rating which is why the dealer says no. You can still put one on though. Does your truck have plow prep? If not they will for sure decline warranty just because they don't want to pay.

I love my Fisher 8.5' V-plow. When you buy a plow (if new) you will get everything needed...plow, truck mount and wiring/controller.

As for wear items...basically every couple years the front axle will need new ball joints, u-joints and possibly hub bearings. Keep an eye on trans temps and it should last.
