Default Toyo Open Country A/T or Nitto Grappler A/t

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of either of these. What do you think is the better tire, mainly concerned about wear and ride

From what I have heard both are a great tire. I just got some Toyo OC's a couple months ago and I love them. I think nitto's are actually made by toyo, that is why the tread patterns are so similar. IMO either would be a great choice.

I have the Nitto's, I love 'em. They're pretty quiet and have a nice look and pretty darn functional off road. Just make sure you rotate them pretty regularly to get good wear. The discount tire guy ran them a few times on his truck and he said best at about every 4000 miles or so to rotate. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

I am actually looking at the same tires as you are and found out they are very similar. I think the Nitto's have a little more "offroad" look to them than the Toyos. I also found that for the size I want, they are priced exaclty the same...Let us know what you go with and why.

what rim size do you have. I have 305/70/17 nitto terra grapplers and they have a Load E rating for towing with a stiffer sidewall and harder rubber, for even longer lasting wear.

Default Also have cooper ltz.... Best tire i've ever purchased

I also have a set of cooper ltz on 20" rims - $193 per tire (before mounting, balance, etc). Best tires I've ever purchased. Slightly higher road noise but SIGNIFICANT improvement in performance (and look great too)!

I don't think so, AND the ply rating on the Coopers is not near as thick as most true A/T tire.
I'm not knocking the LTZs at all, I think they are a great tire, but a PAVEMENT tire. The heavily siped block pattern does not clear mud well, but does do well above average on wet pavement, ice and shallow hard packed snow.

If off-roading is in your plans, the Nitto's or Toyo's (which are owned by the same company) are a better choice.

Tread pattern is VERY similar, but from my research, the Nitto gets slightly better wet pavement ratings, the Toyo slightly better mud and the Nitto's get slightly longer wear.

Usually, the Nitto's are about 25% cheaper than the Toyo's at dealers who carry both...
