2006 1500 4wd problems
The "serv 4wd" light came on a few months ago and with some time searching the internet I have found that there is a service bulletin pertaining to this; “TSB 03-001-07” which describes how to fix it. Basically two steps, replacing the actuator and the other is erasing and reprogramming the TIPM with new software. I took the truck into the dealer and of course it was $815.00 for them to fix it, $250 for the actuator and the rest in labor. I have located the actuator for $120.00 and I am capable of swapping them out but the reprogramming is beyond me. Is it possible to fix the problem with just replacing the actuator and leaving the TIPM alone? Or is there another way to get it reprogrammed with out having to take it to the dealer?
Any feed back is greatly appreciated.

Check the wire harness to the transfer case.
On mine, the wire harness connected to the transfer case was hanging down and sitting on the driveshaft which wore through the wires. I fixed the 3 wires that were broken, and all is working great now.
