Got my ass whooooped
The new rams sure are fast. I know they are a more powerful hemi but do they still have the same 545RFE tranny with torque converter, etc? If so then you'd still be looking at a ~30% power loss at the wheels. Do the 4th gen rams come with an electric fan or clutch fan? It's unheard of to see new vehicles without electric fans.
Chrysler makes a great engine (for example, just about any hemi, from the 426 to the new ones) but they really need to get their **** together with the transmissions.

My father-in-law has a 727 in his '68 Dart I'm pretty sure. 340 ci.
Honestly, I figured I'd have a pretty good chance staying with him considering I have 3.92 gears and he had 3.55s, but that extra 45 horsepower perservered. I didn't take it personally at all though because I was only losing to an updated version of my truck lol. I will say my truck looks infinitely cooler though. I'm with some of you guys, something about the new Rams looks a little strange. They appear to be a little toned down from the 3rd generation Rams. I think they were trying to attact the audience of older people. I remember when I was looking at my 3rd generation Ram and I told my dad I found a Ram I loved he just said ew. Then once he test drove it, he was blown away with how well dodge refined the rams from the previous 2nd generation Ram I owned. The only thing he says about my truck is that he wouldn't drive it, he thinks they look a little too spunky for his taste, hence why he went with the Ford. He says he'd much rather drive the newer kind of Ram if he were to drive in one. Although I lost I just have shove the financial statistics into my brothers face lol. I could have bought a new Ram last April as well, but I decided I like having money around..
having money around is a nice thing....im a fan of the look i like how sporty they are especially lowered i saw a lifted one and yuck it just looked odd like a lifted car....but as far as sporty and low they look good but deep inside im 3rd gen man ....glad i upgraded when i did....
Yeah, I really like the sporty look to the 4th generation Rams. I just don't really look at them as a towing truck anymore though. When my truck is sitting next to my brother's, my truck just looks HUGE lol. From what I hear the newer Rams squat pretty good with any kind of an average payload or tongue weight, that would make me a little sad. As far as driving them, it's really neat how I'm able to jump back and forth between my 3rd generation and my brother's 4th generation...I think the differences are vast. The 4th generation is a great choice for doing long distance traveling and racing, but I don't think it sits very well in the construction world, it looks a little out of place with its sporty looks. Unless they improve their towing capabilities, I can't say for certain if I'd consider a 4th generation Ram when I go to purchase my next truck 2-3 years from now.
