Question can't get the cab clearance (roof) lights to work

I just bought a 2006 ram 2500 "big rig edition" 5.9 HO cummins, 6 speed manual. Love it so far.

I can't figure out how to get the amber clearance lights on the top to work. There doesn't seem to be a switch, and they don't come on with parking/tails/headlights. User manual says nothing. Checked all fuses (fuse list doesn't mention those lights anyway). Checked bulbs.

Somebody on here mentioned a wire harness in the passenger pillar. I looked there and sure enough there was a connector but nothing plugged in and no wires going to the roof. Confused...?!

Thanks,
Bill

That's why they don't work. May have been added by the previous owner and never wired up. They would come on with the parking lights.

yep, just drop the headliner and look for the end of the wire. May have to add a piece on to get to the connector in the pillar, but not a difficult job...

Alright, thanks! I'll probably just cut the connector off. Is there any good way to drop the headliner without messing it up?

look up at the top of the page for the "3rd Gen Ram FAQS" in there is a great video tutorial on installing those lights. should help you pull down your headliner with ease.
