Default Two questions...

One, for anyone that runs a 04-05 hemi, where does your engine temp guage sit at for driving temp, mine sits just below half and im thinking shes running alittle hot.

also, for anyone thats done plugs and wires for a hemi (by a shop) what did the total cost come to be, i just got a estimate from my mechanic for $1000. that includes platinum plugs.

Just wanted some input, thanks.

That sounds normal to be with the oem 195-200* T-stat.

Mine used to be that way but with the new 180* stat Im less than that now.

Holy s**t! For a second there I thought that I was on the Lamborghini V12 site! Yes I have serviced Lamborghini's and Ferrari's before when I worked at an exotic car dealership in London and we didn't charge $1000 for a f***ing plug change! We don't even charge that for an airplane! (I'm an aircraft mechanic now) That's got to be a joke? Isn't it?

Just below 1/2 is normal on the temp gauge.

Better call the cops, You are about to get raped if you pay $1000 for a plug change. Hell, the dealer wouldn't even charge 1/2 of that I wouldn't think!!!
Oh and don't use platinum plugs in the Hemi. Use copper core Champion or NGK V-power plugs.

plugs will cost you about $50 to do youself. It'll take about 5 hours to do yourself with simple tools (make sure you have a swivel socket). Maybe about $400 at a dealer at most because of the time it takes (not hard, just a lot of time).

Mine used to run at about 1/3 when i had a 180 t-stat, but after putting a normal t-stat back in, the normal temp is right around halfway. higher temps prevent sludge buildup, which can be a problem with these engines, and even more so with the 4.7.

Just under half is spot on for a stock thermostat.

AND $1000 is robbery for plugs and wires!!! First of all, DO NOT run platinum plugs, run standard copper, your truck will actually perform better. I do mine myself, but hell, even my local dealer only charges $129 for a plugs installed and $180 for the wires, plus $90 for install. I gave my neighbor hell for paying that on his '06 Hemi 4x2 rather than doing them himself and that was $600 LESS than your rip off guy!!!
