4 wheel drive issue
ok, I have a 2" leveling kit installed and this is the first time I've had to use 4 wheel drive on the roads this season. When I start out in traffic like from a stop light, the front end of my truck shakes from side to side. When I get up to speed it goes away. This only happens in 4 wheel drive. Does it have to do with the leveling kit?
Yup... it's hit and miss with the '08s. Mine has the same problem. I've had mine to the dealer several times... they have explained some BS about torque bind in the transfer case... (they did not know the level kit was installed). It actually seems to have more to do with the CV joint angles.
Interestingly enough, I seem to see more of the 'big horn' editions having the issue...
The only way to not have the issue is to remove the level kit and get a real suspension lift.
I'm living with mine for now until I can afford to get the 6" suspension lift.

yeah i know... just seemed like a lot of big horns reporting the same issue.
I think the bottom line is that some of these trucks cannot be lifted/leveled on the cheap... need to do it correctly... suspension lift.

Im assuming this is somewhat correlated with the "death wobble" talked about? I thought this problem started when higher speeds were attained, like at 70ish. I have this shaking problem, and Im not even leveled. (alignment's probably shot).
OP, I hope your problem is an easy fix. Ive never heard of the problem just in 4wd, but Im still learning too. At what speeds do you say the problem stops? Not that I can help, but Im interested, and someone else might be able to.......

Was explained to me by a buddy who is a Dodge service manager during a round of golf a while ago after they actually tried to replace a CV axle on an '07. Seems the CV axle they had in stock was too big, even though it was the proper part number.
He had to make some calls and found out that Chrysler made the CV axles a little bit smaller (thinner) for clearance issues when they went to a coil over suspension on the '06s. Kept the damn part numbers the same??? So it's now a bi*ch when you gotta replace one, cause you may or may not get the right one.
Even though the '02-'05 CVs aren't the greatest in the world, the 06+ ones are even less agreeable to increased angles due to a level kit. Added to the mix, some '06+ guys have NO issues and others have a terrible "death wobble", as it's hit and miss.
I have not heard of any remedy if your truck just doesn't "like" a level kit short of doing an actual suspension lift (or body lift, but a BL won't level it)...
