help save a dodge before i burn mine
ok so im at the end let me say this first i love my truck but the problems are starting to tick me off. i have an 03 1500 4.7l ive had the normal problems diff radiator pcv valve ect. fixed them all now i have a problem and i dont know what to do. if you guys read my last post my valve body in my trans to a crap so i ordered a new on and got a new solenoid. today i took the trans pan off removed the valve body and replaced it with the new one with new solenoid and filters. filled it up with fluid and went on my merry way. well aparently at around 25 30 mph my truck thinks its ok to idle at 500 rpms. and at 70 mph when i take my foot off the gas the rpm drops fast to 1500 when i give it gas and i mean like pushing the pedal half way down it spikes to 2500 rpms and drops back to 1800 but the motor doesn't really speed up. then i push the pedal almost an inch away from the floor board and the rpm spikes to 3500 then with the pedal all the way down it spikes again to 4500 rpms. if there are any ideas please tell me what i should check or change because im almost on my last string. btw the check engine light is not on.

actualy, i am trying to unload this truck, it is a 2004 Bighorn that shelled the engine, it is black, fiberglass hood, 20'wheels and is debadged. I pulled the engine for the owner, he let it sit at my shop for 3 months, then went and bought a new Chevy. So he wants to unlosd this truck. He wants 4 grand.

Your RPM problam sounds like a typical 4.7 with 3.55's searching for a power band. At 70, unless you hammer down, that 4.7 isnt going to do anything but waste fuel. The variance in your RPM (high to low) is just the torque converter locking up and releasing. My truck does the same thing.
SOlution: re-gear. I fixin to bite the bullet and order my gears. getting tired of the tranny searching all the time. Makes it a biotch to drive in town.
